Setup AutoCAD 9, 10, or 11 with 102x Plotter:


AutoCAD Release 9, 10, or 11 with 102X Plotters:

Hardware Connection Requirements:
  PC Host Computer with an operational serial port (i.e. COM1, COM2).
  A straight through serial cable (50 ft. max), no wires are crossed. 
  Must have pins 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 20.
  HP Plotter serial cable does not work with CalComp Plotters.
  CalComp 102X Plotter must be connected to a PC directly for this
  configuration. Network systems, serial buffer boxes, and/or plot spool
  programs may require different communication parameter settings.

1. Setup 102X Plotter:
   - Power ON the plotter. 
   - Install pen(s) in turret and place turret in the plotter.
   - Load media.
   - Press MANUAL button. Press NEXT button twice.
   - Press SETUP button.  Press HOST button.
   - Press FORMAT button, change it to PCI DATA FORMAT then press
     EXIT button.
   - Press BAUD button, change it to 9600 BAUD RATE then press 
     EXIT button.
   - Press DATA button, change it to 7 BIT, 1 STOP, EVEN PARITY, 
     then press EXIT button.
   - Press HANDSHAKE button, change it to DIRECT CONTROL, 
     then press EXIT button.
   - Press NEXT button. Press SYNC button, change # of SYNC to 2, 
     and SYNC CHAR. to 22.
   - Press EXIT button, press CHKSUM, change it to ENABLED, 
     then press EXIT button.
   - Press END MSG, and change End of Msg. Char. to 13.
   - Press EXIT (3 times), and save as USER # (1 thru 4), 
     and then press YES button.
   - Press EXIT button then press ONLINE. 
     The plotter should display: HOST PLOT TIME:00:00:00.

2. Use EDIT or EDLIN to Add line to AUTOEXEC.BAT file to define COM Port 
   (Add after PATH statement):
   MODE COM1:9600,E,7,1,P (if using serial port 1). 
   MODE COM2:9600,E,7,1,P (if using serial port 2).

3. Setup AutoCAD Release 9,10,11:
   - Start up AutoCAD. At Main Menu choose 5 - Configure AutoCAD.
   - At Configuration Menu choose  - Configure operating parameters.
   - At Operating parameters choose 3 - Default plot file name.  Enter COM1
     (if using serial port 1).
   - Exit to Configuration Menu.
   - At Configuration Menu choose 5 - Configure plotter.
   - Do you want to select a different one ? = YES.
   - From Available Plotters choose 5 - CalComp 906 / 907 / PCI.
   - From Supported Models choose 1 - 104X Plotter.
   - Number of pens is 8.
   - Step Size per inch is 2032.
   - Do you want to use XON/XOFF = YES.
   - Enter port name, or address in hexadecimal = COM1 
     (if using serial port 1).
   - Would you like to calibrate your plotter ? = NO.
   - Write the plot to a file ? = YES.
   - Size Units ( Inches or Millimeters) = I (Inches).
   - Plot Origin in inches = 0.00,0.00.
   - Enter Width, Height in inches = 34.5, 23 for the 1023 
     or 34.5, 22.8 for the 1025/1026 (for 36x24 sheet).*
   - Rotate plot (0 - 90 - 180 - 270) = 0.
   - Do you want to change anything ? = NO.
   - Pen width in inches = 0.010.
   - Adjust area fill boundaries for pen width ? = NO.
   - Remove hidden lines ? = NO.
   - Plotted Inches = Drawing Units or Fit = F (Fit).
   - Exit to Configuration Menu.   Exit to main Menu.
   - Keep Configuration Changes = YES.

* The clip limits for the 1023 plotter are 1 inch on the top, and 0.5 inch on
the other three edges of the media.  The clip limits for the 1025/1026 are 
1 inch on the top, 0.6 on the sides and 0.5 on the bottom.  When setting the 
paper size for ACAD, select a user size and set the size to the paper size, 
minus the clip limits.  Example: 36 in. by 24 in. paper will have a user size 
of (34.5 in. by 23 in. for the 1023)/(34.5 in. by 22.8 in. for the 1025/1026).
