Setup AutoCAD 9,10, and 11 with Solus 4 544xx Parallel Port:


AutoCAD  9,10, and 11 with Solus 4  544xx  Parallel Port:

Hardware Connection Requirements:
  PC Host Computer with an operational parallel port (i.e. LPT1, LPT2).
  Parallel cable, Centronics connector, double shielded cable.
  CalComp 544xx Plotter must be connected to a PC directly for this
  configuration.  Network systems, serial buffer boxes, and/or plot
  spool programs may require different communication parameter settings.

1. Setup 54424, 54436 Plotter:
   - Turn plotter on, when Online appears on the LCD plotter is ready.
   - Press the Scroll key until More Options is displayed.  Press the
     Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Port Setup is displayed.  Press the
     Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until PAR_1 (if using Par_1) is displayed.
     Press Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Input Mode is displayed.  Press the
     Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Buffered Mode is displayed.  Press the
     Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Dead Job Time is displayed.  Press the
     Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until 60 sec is displayed.  Press the Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Dead Job Action is displayed.  Press
     the Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Force is displayed.  Press the Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Steps per Inch is displayed.  Press
     the Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until 2032 is displayed.  Press the Select key
   - Press the Scroll key until Interface Type is displayed.  Press the
     Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Centronics is displayed.  Press the
     Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Exit Select Port is displayed.  Press
     the Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Exit Port Setup is displayed.  Press
     the Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Save to User # is displayed.  Press
     the Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until 1 is displayed, or the user # you wish
     to use (1-10). Press the Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Exit to Main Menu is displayed.  Press
     the Select key.
   - Press the Scroll key until Online is displayed.  Press the Select key.

2.  Use EDIT or EDLIN to Add line to AUTOEXEC.BAT file to define LPT Port
    (Add after PATH statement):
    MODE LPT1:,,P  (if using parallel port LPT1).

3. Setup AutoCAD Release 9,10,11:
   - Start up AutoCad.  At Main Menu choose 5 - Configure AutoCAD.
   - At Configuration Menu choose  - Configure operating parameters.
   - At Operating parameters choose 3 - Default plot file name.  Enter LPT1
     (if using parallel port 1).
   - Exit to Configuration Menu.
   - At Configuration Menu choose 5 - Configure plotter.
   - Do you want to select a different one ? = YES.
   - From Available Plotters choose 5 - CalComp 906 / 907 / PCI.  *
   - From Supported Models choose 1 - 104X Plotter.
   - Number of pens is 16.     Step Size per inch is 2032.
   - Do you want to use XON/XOFF = YES.
   - Enter port name, or address in hexadecimal = COM1.
     (Selection entered here will not actually be used).
   - Would you like to calibrate your plotter ? = NO.
   - Write the plot to a file ? = YES.
   - Size Units ( Inches or Millimeters) = I (Inches).
   - Plot Origin in inches = 0.00,0.00.
   - Enter size or Width, Height in inches = 34.25, 23 (for 36x24 sheet)
     or desired sheet size.
   - Rotate plot (0 - 90 - 180 - 270) = 0.
   - Do you want to change anything ? = NO.
   - Pen width in inches = 0.010.
   - Adjust area fill boundaries for pen width ? = NO.
   - Remove hidden lines ? = NO.
   - Plotted Inches = Drawings Units or Fit = F (Fit).
   - Exit to Configuration Menu. Exit to Main Menu.
   - Keep Configuration Changes = YES.

*An ADI Driver for these versions of AutoCad is available through our
website (http://www.calcomp.com).  The filename you need to download
is CALPROGS.ZIP.  Use PKUNZIP to uncompress this file.  This file also
contains a readme file with instructions on how to install and
configure.  With the ADI driver you will have a selection of 126 pens
and also long plot capabilities.
