Test page output procedure for M971i; Resetting M971i to factory defaults.
A. The M971i Ethernet Adapter provides the following capabilities:
1. Provides a test page which tests the communication
between the M971i Ethernet Adapter and the printer as
well as to output the current M971i configuration.
2. Provides the ability to reset the M971i to factory default
values.
B. These capabilities are enabled via jumpers on the M971i.
1. Jumper number one generates a PostScript Test Page.
a. The Test Page may be plotted directly on a printer equipped
with the PostScript Compatability Option.
b. The Test Page may be examined on the LCD display of the plotter
using the ASCII IMD mode.
2. Jumper number two resets password and IP address to factory
defaults.
C. To output a test page, perform the steps that follow. If resetting the
M971i with the PostScript Compatable Option installed in the plotter,
outputting a hardcopy showing the current values is recommended.
1. Place the M971i into the test page mode. Perform the following steps:
a. Turn off the plotter power.
b. Remove the right endbell from the plotter.
c. Remove the M971i from the plotter.
d. Put jumper one across the pins provided on the M971i
adapter card.
e. Reinstall the M971i into the plotter.
f. Reinstall the right endbell onto the plotter.
2. Turn on power to the plotter. Wait for the plotter to complete
initialization.
3. If a hardcopy is desired, load media into the plotter and
press the ONLINE button.
4. If a hardcopy is not desired, the output may be viewed on the
LCD display of the plotter by performing the steps that follow.
Because there is considerable data being output, it may be
difficult to obtain the relevant information contained in the
test page. The main purpose for using the ASCII IMD mode is
to verify that there is communication between the M971i and
the plotter.
a. Press the MENU key until the plotter displays:
MENU - USE ARROW KEYS TO CHANGE.
b. Press the Up Arrow key until the plotter displays:
INTERNAL TESTS.
c. Press the Right Arrow key unit the plotter displays:
ASCII IMD.
d. Press the ONLINE button.
5. The PostScript test page will be output to the plotter.
6. When the test page has completed being output, return the M971i
back to the normal mode. Perform the following steps:
a. Turn off the plotter power.
b. Remove the right endbell from the plotter.
c. Remove the M971i from the plotter.
d. Remove the jumper.
e. Reinstall the M971i into the plotter.
f. Reinstall the right endbell onto the plotter.
g. Turn on the plotter power. Wait for the plotter to complete
initialization.
D. To reset the M971i, perform the following:
1. Place the M971i into the reset mode. Perform the following steps:
a. Turn off the plotter power.
b. Remove the right endbell from the plotter.
c. Remove the M971i from the plotter.
d. Put jumper two across the pins provided on the M971i adapter
card.
e. Reinstall the M971i into the plotter.
f. Reinstall the right endbell onto the plotter.
2. Turn on power to the plotter. Wait for the plotter to complete
initialization.
3. When the plotter has completed initialization, the M971i has
completed being reset.
4. Perform one of the following:
a. Verify that the settings have been set.
i. To verify that the settings have been reset, perform
the steps above for outputting a test page.
b. Return the M971i back to the normal mode without verification.
Perform the following steps:
i. Turn off the plotter power.
ii. Remove the right endbell from the plotter.
iii. Remove the M971i from the plotter.
iv. Remove the jumper.
v. Reinstall the M971i into the plotter.
vi. Reinstall the right endbell onto the plotter.
vii. Turn on the plotter power. Wait for the plotter
to complete initialization.
