The Windows PCI/907 driver file (WIN31DRV.EXE) may be downloaded
from the CalComp Website (http://www.calcomp.com)
Self-extract the file by typing at the DOS prompt: WIN31DRV
Hardware Connection Requirements:
PC Host Computer with an operational serial port (i.e. COM1, COM2).
A straight through serial cable (50 ft. max), no wires are
crossed. Must have pins 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 20.
HP Plotter serial cables do not work with CalComp Plotters.
CalComp 102x Plotter must be connected to a PC directly for this
configuration. Network and serial buffer box systems may use
different communication parameters.
1. Setup 102x Plotter:
- Power ON the plotter. Install pen(s) in turret and place turret
in the plotter.
- Load media.
- Press MANUAL button. Press NEXT button twice.
- Press SETUP button. Press HOST button.
- Press FORMAT button, change it to PCI DATA FORMAT then press EXIT button.
- Press BAUD button, change it to 9600 BAUD RATE then press EXIT button.
- Press DATA button, change it to 8 BIT, 1 STOP, NO PARITY, then
press EXIT button.
- Press HANDSHAKE button, change it to DIRECT CONTROL then press
EXIT button.
- Press NEXT button. Press SYNC button, change # of SYNC to 1, and
SYNC CHAR. to 2.
- Press EXIT button, press CHKSUM, change it to DISABLED, then
press EXIT button.
- Press END MSG, and change End of Msg. Char. to 3.
- Press EXIT (3 times), and save as USER # (1 thru 4), and then
press YES button.
- Press EXIT button then press ONLINE. The plotter should display:
HOST PLOT TIME:00:00:00.
2. Setup WINDOWS:
- Start up Windows.
- Double click on Control Panel.
- Double click on Printers.
- Highlight CCP Artisan 102x (907) on COMx. (If the Windows
PCI/907 driver is not installed, install it now by selecting RUN from
the File menu bar in Program Manager and selecting the SETUP.EXE file
from the disk directory where the Windows driver is located. Then
follow the menu choices, selecting the appropriate Artisan plotter
driver. When done, double click on Control Panel, double click on
Printers, and select the PCI/907 driver).
- Choose Connect and select the COM port that the plotter is connected to.
- Choose Settings.
- Set Baud Rate = 9600, Data bits = 8, Parity = None, Stop bits = 1,
Flow control = Hardware.
- Choose OK.
- Select Fast Printing Direct to Port.
- Choose OK.
- Choose Setup.
- Choose paper size loaded in plotter.
- Choose Assign Pens.
- Assign screen colors to pen turret position numbers.
- Choose OK in Pen Assignments.
- Choose OK in Setup.
- Choose Set as default printer.
- Make sure Use Print Manager is NOT selected.
- Close Printers.
- Close Control Panel.
- Start Windows Application and print to CalComp plotter.
