Setup ACAD 12, 13 6.x driver - TechJET 53xx Serial Port:

The driver file (PLPCCGUI.EXE) may be download from the CalComp 
Web Site (http://www.calcomp.com)  Self-extract the file by typing at 
the DOS prompt: PLPCCGUI

Hardware Connection Requirements:

 	o	PC Host Computer with an operational serial port 
		(i.e. COM1, COM2).
  	o	A straight through 25 pin serial cable (50 ft. max), 
		no wires are crossed, AND a "null modem".
		
				OR

	o	A "Null Modem" cable, such as HP serial printer cable 
		(available locally)
  	o	CalComp 53xx Plotter must be connected to a PC directly 
		for this configuration.   Network systems, serial buffer boxes, 
		and/or plot spool programs may require different 
		communication parameter settings.

1. Setup TechJET

   	o	Power ON the plotter. Load Media. Press MENU button.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to PROTOCOL and set to PCI.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to INPUT RESOLUTION and 
		set to 2032 steps per inch.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to ORIENTATION and set to 
		AUTO.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to PEN SETUP and set to 
		USE SOFTWARE.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow to PORT TYPE and set to RS-232C
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to SYNC # EOM, CHKSUM 
		and set to A: 22, 2, 13, ON.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to BAUD rate and set to 9600.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to # of bits-Parity and set to 
		7-Even.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to Handshake and set to Hardware.
	o	Press DOWN arrow to Sync, #, EOM CHK and set to 
		22, 2, 13, Yes
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to EOP TIMER and set to 2 MIN.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to Save as user number and save 
		the settings on USER # (1 to 4).
   	o	Press ONLINE button twice. The plotter should display: 
		ONLINE  000:00.

 Note: 	Users of Windows 95/NT systems may disregard Step 2.  
		Windows 95/NT systems do not require the addition of the 
		MODE statement.  

2. Use EDIT or EDLIN to Add line to AUTOEXEC.BAT file to define COM Port
   (Add after PATH statement):
   	MODE COM1:9600,E,7,1,P (if using serial port 1).
   	MODE COM2:9600,E,7,1,P (if using serial port 2).

3. Setup AutoCAD 12/13
   	Start AutoCAD.  From the AutoCAD Command Line type: APPLOAD.
     Note:  Windows 95 with ACAD 13 for WINDOWS C3 will require
     installation by running the a:\plpccw\install.bat file on the
     installation disk.  Example:  INSTALL WIN13 A:\PLPCCW C:\R13\WIN\DRV

   	o	Click on the FILE button.
   	o	Locate drive a: from the DRIVES list and open 
		folder PLPCCW. Click on the file INSTALL.LSP 
		and press ENTER.
   	o	From the AutoCAD Command Line type: CONFIG.
   	o	At the Configuration Menu choose Configure 
		operating parameters.
   	o	At Operating parameters, choose 3- Default plot 
		file name.
     	o	Enter  com1 or  com2 to match the MODE cmd.
   	o	Exit to Configuration Menu.
   	o	At the Configuration Menu choose 5 - Configure plotter.
   	o	At Plotter Configuration Menu choose 1 - Add a 
		plotter configuration.
   	o	From Available Plotters choose CalComp TechJET Ink Jet 
		Plotters ADI 4.2 V6.x- by CalComp.
   	o	From Supported Models choose the model you have
		(5324 or 5336 Plotter).
   	o	Where the Plotter is connected to (Serial, Parallel) = S.
   	o	Device Name, (COM1, COM2,  com3) =  com1.  
		(If using  com1).
   	o	Do you want to change anything = YES.  Write the plot 
		to a file = YES.  (All others, choose the defaults).
   	o	Enter Description of Plotter = CalComp TechJET .
   	o	Exit to Configuration Menu.  Exit to Drawing Editor. 
		Keep Configuration Changes = YES.
   	o	At the command line type OPEN or NEW to open 
		a drawing and initialize the new driver.
   	o	At the command line type: CCONFIG. to bring up the 
		CalComp Plotter Configuration Dialog box.
   	o	Select the Model and options desired. For information, 
		click on an option then HELP.

Note to NT users):
   	Windows NT requres the use of AUTOSPOOL for plotting. 
	To configure ACAD  to use AUTOSPOOL:
   
	o	Create a directory under the root called SPFILES
   	o	Create a batch file called PLOT.BAT 
		(Use EDIT or NOTEPAD).
     The file should contain the following line(s):

   @Echo Off
   Mode comx:9600,e,7,1,p    (Use this line only if using the 
				serial port x= number of com port)
   Copy %1 comx:                  (Use this line only if using the 
				serial port x= number of com port)
   Copy %1  comx                      (Use this line only if using the 
				parallel port. x=number 
                                                of  com port.  May be a captured port)
   Copy %1 //computer/share  (Use this line only for network devices.  
				Substitute for computer and share.)

   Note: Use only one ‘copy' line.

  	o	Edit the ACAD.INI file in the ACAD directory 
		or the WIN subdirectory.  (Use EDIT or NOTEPAD).
  	o	Look for this line in ACAD.INI: ACADPLCMD=
  	o	If there is no line then create one.
  	o	Edit the line to read: 
		ACADPLCMD = c:\spfiles\plot.bat %s %c
  	o	Save the file and exit the editor.  Restart ACAD if 
		currently running.
  	o	From the AutoCAD Command Line type: CONFIG.
  	o	At the Configuration Menu choose 7-Configure 
		operating parameters.
  	o	At Operating parameters, choose 3- Default plot 
		file name.
  	o	Enter AUTOSPOOL for the plotfile name.
  	o	Choose 4-PLOT SPOOLER DIRECTORY and 
		change to C:\SPFILES
  	o	Exit CONFIG and keep changes.
  	o	Be sure to PLOT TO FILE (Make sure the PLOT TO FILE 
		box at the bottom of the plot window is checked.

The clip limits for the 53xx plotter are as follows:

			Cut-sheet media	Roll-feed media
 Top of Media		0.5 inches		1.3 inches
Left & Right sides	0.5 inches		0.5 inches
*Bottom of media	1.875 inches		1.875 inches

When setting the paper size for ACAD, select a user size and set the 
size to the paper size, minus the clip limits. Example: 36 in. by 24 in. 
Cut-sheet paper in Normal Mode will have a user size of 33.625 in. 
by 23 in.
