Setup AutoCAD 11 (DOS) with TechJET Personal Parallel Port:

AutoCAD 11 (DOS) with TechJET Personal Parallel Port:

Hardware Connection Requirements:
PC Host Computer with a working parallel port (i.e. lpt1).
Parallel cable, Centronics connector.
CalComp 5017 Printer must be connected to a PC directly for this
configuration. (See User’s Guide,
pages 1-12 and 1-13). Network systems may require different communication
parameter settings.
1. Setup TechJet personal (5017):
- Ensure that dip switch settings under cover next to POWER button are
set. Dip switches 1 and 2 down, all others up.
(See Users Guide, page 1-16, 1-17).
- Power ON the printer. Install ink jet cartridge.
(See Users Guide, pages 1-8 through 1-11).
- Load media. (See Users Guide, chapter 2).
- Select print quality. (See Users Guide, page 3-6).
- Press ONLINE button to place the printer on-line, ready to print.
(See Users Guide, page 3-2).
2. Install the AutoCAD ADI (DOS) Driver (See Software Guide, Chapter 2):
- Install TechJET Personal Software DOS/Windows Install Disk into floppy
drive (A: or B:).
- Type A: or B: and press ENTER. Type INSTALL and press ENTER.
- The CalComp TechJET Drivers and Utilities Installation box appears.
Press any key to continue.
- The Installation Menu dialog box appears. Use the UP and DOWN arrow
keys to move the highlighted bar to select. The YES and NO values in
brackets are changeable fields. To change a highlighted YES/NO field,
press ENTER. For AutoCAD 11, 12, or 13 DOS the YES selection needs to
be selected for AutoCAD ADI Driver.
- The Dialog box shows the current source floppy disk drive and
destination drive. Do not attempt to change these values on this screen.
Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to move highlighted bar to .
- A menu allowing changes to the source and destination drive selections
is displayed. Make changes and select .
- A menu is displayed requesting the directory path of where AutoCAD is
located. Type: C:\ACAD. The installation utility program will install
the driver: plpcctj.exp in the subdirectory DRV. (e.g.,
C:\ACAD\DRV\PLPCCTJ.EXP). If the subdirectory does not exist, the
installation utility program will create it.
- Select to modify the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
3. Use EDIT or EDLIN to modify AUTOEXEC.BAT file (Add after PATH
Statement):
- Define AutoCAD Environment Variable in AUTOEXEC.BAT file:
SET PLPADI=C:\ACAD\DRV\PLPCCTJ.EXP (if the driver file plpcctj.exp is
located in this directory).
- Define LPT Port:
MODE LPT1:,,P (if using parallel port 1).
- Save file and exit from editor. Reboot the computer.
4. Setup AutoCAD Release 11:
- Start up AutoCad, At Main Menu choose 5 - Configure AutoCAD.
- At Configuration Menu choose - Configure operating parameters.
- At Operating parameters choose 3 - Default plot file name. Enter LPT1
(if using parallel port 1).
- Exit to Configuration Menu.
- At Configuration Menu choose 5 - Configure plotter.
- Do you want to select a different one ? = YES.
- From Available Plotters choose ADI P386 plotter
(Note: If AutoCAD displays message:
Cannot find ADI P386 plotter driver. Enter ADI driver or RETURN
for null plotter configuration:
then the environment variable was not set from AUTOEXEC.BAT file. Either
type the full directory path here, or exit from AutoCAD, re-edit the
AUTOEXEC.BAT file, and reboot the computer).
- Select maximum media size. Select number of copies. Resolution: 1 =
360 x 360.
- Change pens: N. Enter port: LPT1 (if using lpt1). Would you like to
calibrate your plotter? NO.
- Write the plot to a file? YES.
- Size units: Inches. Plot origin: 0.00, 0.00. Enter the size or
width, height: MAX. Rotate plot 0/90/180/270: 90.
- Pen width (in inches): 0.010. Adjust area fill boundaries for pen
width? NO. Remove hidden lines? NO.
- Plotted Inches = Drawings Units or Fit = F (Fit).
- Exit to Configuration Menu. Exit to main Menu. Keep Configuration
Changes = YES.

Guide, pages 2-2 and 2-3.
