Problems selecting the correct tray.

A. The printer comes standard with an upper tray and a multipurpose tray
(MPT).
1. The multi-purpose tray (MPT) is a fold down tray on the front of
the printer and looks like a manual feed slot on other printers.
Actually, this is a tray that can hold about 100 sheets of
standard weight paper.
2. As an option, a lower tray may be installed on the bottom of the
printer. Once installed, then all three choices become valid in
the software driver.
B. The printer can limit the paper trays being selected. Also, the printer
has a default paper size and orientation. If it is not set correctly,
then the wrong size/orientation will result. To examine or change these
values, perform the following:
1. Press the ON LINE button on the printer to take the printer off
line.
2. Press the MENU button for one second and release.
3. The printer will display the current language followed by: PRINT
MENU.
4. Press the MENU button until the printer displays: TRAY=.
5. To allow the printer to access all available trays, the display
should display: TRAY=ALL.
a. To change the display, perform the following:
i. Press the + button until the desired value is
displayed.
ii. Press the ENTER/RESET button to select it.
b. The printer will first search the upper tray, the lower
tray (if installed), and then the MPT tray.
4. Check the default paper size and orientation. Perform the
following:
a. Press the MENU button until the printer displays: PAPER=.
b. Press the + button to choose the desired value. Press the
ENTER/RESET button to select it.
c. Press the MENU button until the printer displays:
ORIENTATION=.
d. Press the + button to choose the desired value. Press the
ENTER/RESET button to select it.
e. Press the ON LINE button.
C. If using Windows-based applications, some applications, such as Word,
WordPerfect, and Excel do not use the paper source, paper size, and
orientation selections from the Windows driver. Instead, these
applications control the values by themselves. The documentation from
the application software should provide information for setting these
page setup selections.
D. If the problem is with using the multi-purpose tray (MPT), perform the
following:
1. In the CCL600 Windows driver, the multipurpose tray (MPT) is
selected by choosing the Middle Tray. To change the paper source
in the CCL600 driver, perform the following:
a. In Windows, from Program Manager: double-click on Main,
double-click on Control Panel,
double-click on Printers.
b. Windows will display the Printers dialog box.
c. From the list of installed printers, select the CalComp
CCL600 Windows Driver.
d. Click on the button: Set As Default Printer.
e. Make sure that there is no X in the box that says: Use
Print Manager.
f. Click on the button: Setup.
g. Windows will display another dialog box that allows paper
size, orientation, copies and paper source. To use the MPT,
set this selection to Middle Tray.
h. Click on the button: OK. Close Printers. Close the Control
Panel.
2. The printer can only detect whether paper is in the multi-purpose
tray. It cannot determine what paper size was loaded into this
tray. The printer has a default setting for this tray. To examine
or change this value, perform the following:
a. Press the ON LINE button on the printer to take the printer
off line.
b. Press the MENU button for one second and release.
c. The printer will display the current language followed by:
PRINT MENU.
d. Press the MENU button until the printer displays: MPT
SIZE=. The default is LETTER.
e. The value may be changed by pressing the + button. Note: If
using #10 commercial envelopes, then select: COM 10.
f. When the desired value appears, press the ENTER/RESET
button. Press the ON LINE button.
3. When printing, if the printer displays:
MPT TRAY LOAD [paper size]
then the printer has determined that there is no tray
installed which contains this size paper and is waiting for
operator-intervention to manually load the paper into the MPT
tray.
a. Examine the paper size specified in the application that is
sending the print job. If on a network, then refer to the
system administrator of the network to examine what paper
size is being selected.
b. If the above seems correct, then there may be a problem
with the software driver.
