Very slow print time.

A. The printer is very slow with any kind of bitmap, scanned or raster
data. Try using a different language emulation format. PostScript,
PCL-5, and HPGL/2 are the available choices for this printer.

      1. If using the CalComp CCL600 Windows Driver or other PostScript
driver, then try using a PCL-5 driver, such as the HP LaserJet
            III Si driver.

            a. The printer driver resolution is limited to 300 x 300 dpi.
It does not support the 600 x 600 dpi resolution of the HP
LaserJet IV series printer drivers, which generate PCL5
                  Enhanced.

            b. The printer can output 11 x 17 in PCL5 mode, but the
drivers in Windows do not support paper sizes larger than
                  8.5 x 14.

            c. CalComp does not provide a PCL5 driver for this unit.

            d. Be sure to set the menu selection for the default paper
size and orientation. To do this, perform the
                  following:

                  i. Press the ON LINE button to take the printer off
                        line.

ii. Press the MENU button for one second and release.

iii. The printer will display the current language
                        followed by: PRINT MENU.

iv. Press the MENU button until the printer displays:
                        PAPER=.

                  v. Press the + button to choose the desired value. Press
the ENTER/RESET button to select it.

vi. Press the MENU button until the printer displays:
                        ORIENTATION=.

vii. Press the + button to choose the desired value. Press
the ENTER/RESET button to select it.

viii. Press the ON LINE button.

      2. If using AutoCAD 12/13, the HPGL/2 drivers that ship with the
software will work. When configuring this driver in AutoCAD, the
supported model: PaintJet XL w/ GL/2 Cartridge, or 7600 Color,
            should work fine.

            a. The advantage with this driver is speed. This driver is
generally faster than the PostScript driver.

            b. The disadvantages are that there is no control over the
paper tray being selected from the application, the image
area is smaller in HPGL/2 than in PostScript, and the
printer must be either manually set for SYS=HPGL/2, or
escape code sequences must be sent to the printer. For
information on sending escape sequences to the printer,
refer to FaxBack document 4250. To set the printer to
                  HPGL/2 manually, perform the following:

                  i. Press the ON LINE button to take the printer off
                        line.

ii. Press and hold down the MENU button until the display
on the printer displays: SYS=AUTO, or SYS=HP-PCL,
                        or SYS=HP-GL/2, or SYS=POSTSCRIPT.

iii. Press the + key until the message: SYS=HP-GL/2 is
                        displayed.

                  iv. Press the ENTER/RESET button.

                  v. When the printer has finished processing the change,
the printer will be on line and the printer will
                        display: HPGL2 READY.

vi. Be sure to set the menu selection for the default
paper size and orientation. To do this, perform the
                        following:

vi.1. Press the ON LINE button to take the printer

vi.3. The printer will display the current language
                              followed by: PRINT MENU.

vi.5. Press the + button to choose the desired value.

vi.6. Press the ENTER/RESET button to select it.

vi.7. Press the MENU button until the printer
                              displays: ORIENTATION=.
