Printing from Powerpoint, Freelance, or Harvard Graphics for Windows.

A. There are typically three symptoms on the printer which are caused by
      these applications:

      1. After a job is sent, it will display: RECV/PROCESS and then hang
            indefinitely.

      2. The printer will display: RECV/PROCESS followed by: ONLINE. It
will not print again until the power on the printer is cycled off
            and back on.

      3. The printer will display: RECV/PROCESS followed by: ONLINE.
Instead of printing the current job, it prints files that had
            been previously sent to it.

B. This problem can be resolved by changing selections in the Windows
      driver.

      1. For Windows 3.1x, perform the following:

            a. In Windows, from Program Manager: double-click on Main,
double-click on Control Panel, double-click on Printers.

            b. Windows will display the Printers dialog box. From the
list of installed printers, select the CalComp
ColorMaster Plus 6603PS or 6613PS Windows Driver.

            c. Click on the button: Set As Default Printer.

            d. Make sure that there is no X in the box that says:
                  Use Print Manager.

            e. Click on the button: SETUP. Windows will display a dialog
box allowing paper tray, paper size, and orientation.
                  Select the desired values.

            f. Click on the button: OPTIONS. Windows will display the
                  Options dialog box.

            g. Click on the button: ADVANCED. Windows will display the
                  Advanced Options dialog box.

            h. At the top of the Advanced Options dialog box, there is
                  a block of settings titled:

TRUE TYPE FONTS: SEND TO PRINTER AS.

                  i. If the setting in this box is ADOBE TYPE 1,
then change the value to: BITMAP TYPE 3.
(Click on the down arrow button at the right of this
box to obtain the drop-down list and click on the
                        selection: BITMAP TYPE 3).

ii. If the setting is already BITMAP TYPE 3, then there
is some other problem requiring further research.
(Note, however, that if it was set to ADOBE TYPE 1
from a previous print job and the printer power has
not been cycled off/on to reset it, then this may
                        still be the problem).

            i. Click on the button: OK. Windows will display the Options
                  dialog box.

            j. Click on the button: OK. Windows will display the Setup
dialog box, allowing paper size and orientation selections.

            k. Click on the button: OK. Windows will display the Printers
                  dialog box.

            l. Click on the button: OK. Close Printers. Close the Control
                  Panel.

      2. For Windows 95, perform the following:

            a. In Windows 95, from the START button: click on SETTINGS,
click on printers, click on the appropriate CalComp
ColorMaster Plus driver, and select PROPERTIES from the
File Menu Bar in the Printers window.

            b. Click on the FONTS tab and then click on the SEND FONTS AS
                  button.

            c. The Send Fonts As window will be displayed.

                  i. Set the field "Send TrueType Fonts as:" to Bitmaps.
(Click on the pulldown arrow and click on BITMAPS).

ii. Under "Threshold to switch between downloading bitmap
or outline fonts", type in: 24.
Note: If problems still exist, then return back to
this window and set this value to: 18.

      3. Reset the printer by cycling the power on the plotter. Turn off
the power on the plotter, wait three seconds, and then turn on
            the printer power.

      4. Try submitting the print job again. If the problem still exists,
then the problem requires further research.
