Generic CADD with DesignMate, Serial or Parallel Port:

Hardware Connection Requirements:
 
  PC Host Computer with one of the following:
     - An operational, serial port (COM1, COM2), a straight through
       serial cable (50 ft. max), no wires are crossed, Must have pins
       1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 20, for the 3024S or 3036S.
       HP Plotter serial cables do not work with CalComp plotters.
 
     - An operational Parallel port (LPT1, LPT2), a parallel
       printer cable, for the 3024M or 3036M.
 
  CalComp 30XX Plotter must be connected to a PC directly for this
  configuration.  Network systems, serial buffer boxes, and/or plot spool
  programs may require different communication parameter settings.

1. Setup DesignMate (3024, 3036):
   - Power ON the plotter. Install pen(s) in turret and place turret in
     DesignMate.
   - If you have you plotter connected to the LPT port then do the following.
   - If you are connected to the COM port, skip the next 5 steps.
     1. Load media (8.5 in. x 11 in. is recommended). Make sure both pinch
        rollers are down.
     2. Press SET UP button. (wait until the plotter stops plotting the 
        setup instructions)
     3. Please refer to the Users Guide on Page 18-19 for more information.
     4. Choose CENTRONICS for PORT TYPE.
     5. Lift up the pinch rollers and take the media out to save the settings.

   - Put in media (ANSI D-size is recommended).
   - Make sure both pinch rollers are down.
   - The PlotWare utility must be installed on you computer to setup the
     plotter for generic CADD. If it is not installed, install it now by 
     inserting the diskette in the floppy drive, change to the drive and 
     type: INSTALL C:
   - From the DOS prompt change to the PlotWare directory.  CD \PLOTWARE.
   - Sart the PlotWare utility by typing PLOTWARE from the PlotWare directory.
   - Select the model type. 3024 or 3036. 
     (This step may not be in your version of PlotWare)
   - Select Application: Generic CADD.
   - Select Parallel or Serial to correspond to the port your connected to.
   - Select port name. COM1, COM2 for serial. LPT1, LPT2 for parallel.
   - Press the F10 key to send the setup to the plotter.
   - Press the ALT and X key to exit from PlotWare.

  2. Setup GenericCADD :
   - Start up Generic CADD, i.e. CADD.
   - From Generic CADD Main Menu select : FILE.
   - From Generic CADD FILE Menu select : PLOT.
   - Enter selection 1 - Send to (plotter, printer, postscript):
   - Enter selection 1 - Plotter
   - Enter selection 2 - Port (COM1, COM2, LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, File):
   - If selecting COM1 or COM2, verify configuration as; 9600 Baud, 8 Data
     bits, 1 Stop Bit, No Parity.
   - Press ESC.
   - Select 4 - Options (Configure Plotter, Pens, etc...)
   - Select 1 - Configure new plotter
   - Select model number (e.g., 1023 for 3024 or 1025 for 3036), press Enter.
   - Press ESC.
   - Set page size  3 and view type 5 for the paper you are using and plot
     scale desired.*
   - Press 7 -  Start Plot

* The clip limits for the 30XX plotter are 1 inch on the bottom, and 0.5 inch
on the other three edges of the media. When setting the paper size for
Generic CADD, select a user size and set the size to the paper size, minus
the clip limits. Example: 36 in. by 24 in. media will have a user size of
34.5 in. by 23 in.
