Yellow light blinks at one-second intervals (Operational Error).
A. When the plotter power is turned on, there must not be a pen in the
carriage. All of the pens are to be installed in the turret. If there
is a pen in the carriage:
1. Remove the pen from the carriage and replace it in the turret.
2. Turn the plotter power off, wait three seconds, and turn the
plotter power back on.
B. If the plotter is unable to get any pens from the turret, then it will
produce this error.
1. Ensure that the turret is installed and pens are installed in the
turret.
2. Verify that CalComp pens are being used. CalComp pens and media
are designed to provide optimal pen life, plot quality, and
plotter performance. CalComp cannot guarantee quality with other
brands of pens and media.
a. Pens specifically designed for this plotter include: Liquid
Ink Pens (CL, CT), Liquid Ball Pens (CLB, WLB), and
Plastic (Fiber) Tip Pens (CFF, CBF, WPP, WFP). Other brands
of pens may not have the correct pen height from the pen
tip to the pen shoulder.
3. Examine the pen caps in the bottom of the turret.
a. The type of pen cap in the turret must match the pen type
being used. The pen caps are color-coded:
i. If using the CalComp Liquid Ink pens, the black caps
should be installed in the turret.
ii. For all other CalComp pens, the colored caps (blue or
red) should be installed in the turret.
b. If the pen caps are contaminated with dried ink, then clean
them with a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol. If they are torn,
then they need to be replaced. (CalComp part #18367-0017,
red caps for standard pens 12/pkg; CalComp part #11320-
0018, black caps for Liquid ink pens, 12/pkg).
4. If the problem occurs when sizing the media, then note the
following:
a. The media may be too long. For the 3024, the maximum media
length is 49 inches. For the 3036, the maximum media length
is 64 inches.
b. If, while loading, the pinch rollers are not down, then the
media will not move. Reload the media, lower the pinch
rollers, and press the ON LINE button.
5. There may be some jammed media or other foreign material causing
the error. Perform the following:
a. Remove the media from the plotter.
b. Turn off the power on the plotter.
c. Examine the carriage area for any obstructions and/or torn
media.
d. Manually slide the carriage to check for anything that
might inhibit free movement.
e. Examine the grit drum roller area for any obstructions
and/or torn media.
f. Manually rotate the grit drum roller to check for anything
that might inhibit free movement.
