Plotter displays: INDEX NOT FOUND message.
A. When the 104X Series plotter performs its power-on initialization
routine, it initializes the eight pen turret or carousel. This is
accomplished by a photo sensor on the plotter attempting to sense a
small reflective strip located on the side of the turret at pen
position number six. If the sensor does not detect the reflective
strip, the plotter will display: INDEX NOT FOUND RESET WHEN CORRECT.
Perform the following:
1. Ensure that no sunlight from a nearby window or strong overhead
lighting is interfering with the ability of the photo sensor to
detect the reflective strip on the turret. Light striking the
plotter at certain angles can cause this condition.
2. Check the turret itself. Pick up the turret and look for pen
position number six. Look to the side of the turret and locate
the small piece of raised plastic which should have a reflective,
silver line just short of a 1/2 inch long. This is the mark that
the sensor is looking for. Washing the turret or rubbing on the
strip can deface or erase this strip. If there is no reflective
silver strip, or if it is dull, then a piece of reflective
material such as aluminum foil may be taped at this position. A
new turret (CalComp part #677330-3) may also be purchased by
calling 800-225-2667 and placing an order with parts and
supplies.
3. If the turret and the strip appears intact, place a pen in
position six and see if the turret will initialize.
4. If the turret is replaced and the error still occurs, place a
call for on-site service.
