Connecting/configuring the plotter to a  Macintosh computer.

A.    The plotter can be connected to a Macintosh  computer via a Macintosh 8-
      pin mini din to 25-pin serial cable.

      CalComp part # 16623-0011,   6  ft. Macintosh Cable.
      CalComp part # 16623-0029,  12 ft. Macintosh Cable.
      
      The cable is connected from the Macintosh modem or printer port to the
      port on the back of the plotter labeled: P0903 - To DTE Host.
      
      Near the plotter port connection, set dip switches 2, 4, and 5 on (on =
      1 / off = 0).  All other dip switches should be off.

B.    If the software does not offer a driver that supports the plotter, then
      contact a 3rd party company called Microspot.  Microspot offers a
      chooser level driver that will work with Quickdraw based applications
      (i.e., it does not support bitmapped images).  The name of the driver
      that Microspot offers is:  MacPlot Pen Plotter Professional.

C.    Configure the plotter by performing the following steps:

      1.    Press the button marked SETUP.
      
      2.    Press the button marked 7 (numeral 7) for I/O communications.
      
      3.    Press the button marked ENTER.
      
      4.    Press the NEXT/SIZE key. Press ENTER.
      
      5.    Press 0 (numeral zero) for parity. Press ENTER.
            Press 8 (numeral 8) for Bits/Char. Press ENTER.
      
      6.    To advance to the next menu press NEXT/SIZE. Press ENTER.
      
      7.    Press 1 (numeral 1) for Stop Bits. Press ENTER.
            Press 0 (numeral zero) for Clock. Press ENTER.
      
      8.    To advance to the next menu press NEXT/SIZE. Press ENTER.
      
      9.    Press 0 for Serial Interface. Press ENTER.
            Press 00 for IEEE488 address. Press ENTER.
      
      10.   To advance to the next menu press NEXT/SIZE. Press ENTER.
      
      11.   Press 9600 for Baud Rate. Press ENTER.
            Press 0 for PCI. Press ENTER.
      
      12.   To advance to the next menu press NEXT/SIZE. Press ENTER.
      
      13.   Press the NO/CLEAR key for Term Muting (the NO key is located
            above the ENTER/YES key).
      
            Press the NO/CLEAR key for Cksum.
      
      14.   To advance to the next menu press NEXT/SIZE. Press ENTER.
      
      15.   Press the NO/CLEAR key for Isochronous.
            Press 03 for End of Mess Chr. Press ENTER.
      
      16.   To advance to the next menu press NEXT/SIZE. Press ENTER.
      
      17.   Press the YES/ENTER key for Direct Control.
            Press the NO/CLEAR key for XON/XOFF.
      
      18.   To advance to the next menu press NEXT/SIZE. Press ENTER.
      
      19.   Enter 9600 for Terminal Baud Rate. Press ENTER.
            Press 0 for Dplx (duplex). Press ENTER.
      
      20.   To advance to the last menu press NEXT/SIZE. Press ENTER.
      
      21.   Press 1 (numeral 1) for Sync Codes. Press ENTER.
            Press 2 (numeral 2) for Sync Code Value. Press ENTER.
      
      22.   Press the yellow SAVE/TEST key to save the above set-up.  Press
            the numeric key (1, 2, 3, or 4) and press the ENTER key to save
            to that user number.
      
      23.   Press AUTO to plot.  The plotter is now configured.
      

D.    Configure the MacPlot Professional driver on the Macintosh computer:

      1.    Go to the Chooser and double-click on the MacPlot Professional
            icon.
      
      2.    Select the port your plotter is connected to (printer or modem
            port 8-pin mini-din).
      
      3.    Click on PLOTTER.
      
      4.    Select CALCOMP as Manufacturer.
      
      5.    Select Model 1044.
      
      6.    Click OK.
      
      7.    Click on CONFIGURE.
      
      8.    Set the Baud Rate to 9600.
      
      9.    Set the Handshake to HARDWIRE.
      
      10.   Set Data Bits to 8.
      
      11.   Set Parity to NONE.
      
      12    Set Stop Bits to 1.
      
      13    Click on OK.
      
      14.   If using the printer port, then turn off AppleTalk by clicking on
            the radial button marked APPLETALK INACTIVE.
      
      15.   Select PAGE SETUP in the application prior to sending data to the
            plotter.
      
      16.   The software is now ready to send data to the MacPlot driver.
