AUTOCAD 12/13 ADI DRIVER CONFIGURATION GUIDELINES

AUTOCAD 12/13 ADI DRIVER CONFIGURATION GUIDELINES Models: 522xx/524xx,
53336/53436, 54424/54436, 5700/57000, 5800/58000, 67436, 68436/68444
The following guideline is intended to serve as a reference for general
questions which come up regularly on the configuration for CalComp's ADI
drivers for AutoCAD 12/13 (DOS/Windows).
A. WHERE IS THE CALCOMP ADI DRIVER DOCUMENTATION
In-depth documentation for AutoCAD 12/13 ADI drivers is available
from CalComp's Web Site (http//:www.calcomp.com).
The driver documentation is a text file which is included with the
ADI driver file. The CalComp ADI driver files for AutoCAD 12/13 are
listed on CalComp's Web Site:
1. PLPCCWIN.EXE (AutoCAD 12/13 for Windows ADI drivers)
2. PLPCCDOS.EXE (AutoCAD 12/13 for DOS ADI drivers)
Both of these files are compressed, self-extracting executable
files. This means that to uncompress them, you simply enter the
file name at the DOS prompt. For example, at the DOS prompt, enter
PLPCCWIN (and follow any further prompts given as the driver and
documentation files uncompress). The driver and documentation files
will then be ready to use.
B. IF YOU HAVE NEVER INSTALLED A CALCOMP ADI DRIVER FOR AUTOCAD
12/13, WHAT IS THE EASIEST WAY?
This step presumes you have the driver files, PLPCCDOS (AutoCAD
12/13 for DOS) or PLPCCWIN (AutoCAD 12/13 for Windows) and have
uncompressed them.
The easiest way is to follow the information supplied in README.BAT
and then call FaxBack for your particular setup sheet. CalComp has
FaxBack setup sheets on all of the models listed above except the
5700/57000 and 5800/58000 series electrostatics. For these, use the
following substitutions:
5700/57000 series: USE FAXBACK SHEETS FOR THE 67436. Follow
each step as it is given in the setup sheet.
Substitute the actual model selection (of
67436) given in the setup sheet to the
appropriate size 57000 series plotter (use
the 57000 models listed in the driver
configuration for both 5700 and 57000
plotters).
5800/58000 series: USE FAXBACK SHEETS FOR THE 684XX. Follow
each step as it is given in the setup sheet.
Substitute the actual model selection (of
684XX) given in the setup sheet to the
appropriate size 58000 series plotter (use
the 58000 models listed in the driver
configuration for both 5800 and 58000
plotters).
1. When your compressed driver file (PLPCCDOS.EXE or
PLPCCWIN.EXE) is unzipped, there will be a file called
README.BAT among the driver files. At the DOS prompt, enter
README and follow the basic installation instructions EXACTLY
as they are given.
In general, the driver configuration can be successfully
accomplished by simply using the setup sheets provided on
FAXBACK. We have also provided one of these setup sheets with
the driver files. It is called QUICK.TXT. To read this sheet
simply enter README QUICK at the DOS prompt. This particular
setup help sheet may be all you need.
The complete driver documentation (DOCS.TXT) is intended to
serve as a reference. In DOCS.TXT, all of the configuration
prompts are explained. In usually isn't necessary to study
this document in order to successfully configure your CalComp
ADI driver. In most cases, a setup sheet is all you need.
2. The next step is to call FaxBack at (714) 821-2914 and follow
the friendly voice-prompts.
In addition to the documentation supplied for the ADI driver,
CalComp also has one-page setup sheets available which
literally 'walk' you through all the necessary steps to get
your plotter working with AutoCAD.
To access the AutoCAD 12/13 setup sheets, simply call
CalComp's FaxBack line at (714) 821-2914. There is a setup
sheet for each of the models listed above, at the beginning of
this guideline.
ALL of the setup sheets are listed under FaxBack Catalog #4.
Call the FaxBack line and have Catalog #4 delivered to you.
Then, from Catalog #4, select the document number you need and
call FaxBack again to get your setup sheet. The whole process
takes just a few minutes
3. Once you get the AutoCAD setup sheet for your plotter, FOLLOW
EACH ONE OF THE STEPS EXACTLY AS THEY ARE GIVEN. The steps in
the setup sheets are EXACTLY what CalComp technical support
specialists give over the phone. We get a lot of positive
feedback from customers who use these setup sheets.
