Plotter displays: REMOVE RETICLE OR PEN FROM CARRIAGE.

Plotter displays: REMOVE RETICLE OR PEN FROM CARRIAGE.
A. When the plotter completes sizing the media, it will attempt to
retrieve a pen from the turret. If, however, it detects that the pen
carriage currently contains a pen or reticle, then it will stop with
this message. Perform the following steps.
1. Ensure that the pen carriage is empty. If a pen or reticle was
in the pen carriage, remove it from the pen carriage and press
online.
2. If the pen carriage was empty, then verify that the pen carriage
finger freely moves.
a. The pen carriage finger is the moveable portion which holds
the pen in the pen carriage. Check for obstructions. If the
sensor or carriage does not operate correctly, then the
carriage assembly is faulty and the plotter requires
service.
3. The carriage ribbon cable may have come loose. Verify that it is
securely connected to the controller board. Perform the following
steps.
a. Unplug the AC power cable and host interface cable.
b. The right end bell contains the control panel. Remove the
right end bell by removing the screw from the rear of the
right end bell and carefully push in the two plastic
latches. Lift the end bell far enough to gain access to
the control panel cables. Unplug the control panel cables
from the controller board and finish removing the end bell.
c. Facing the plotter from the front, the carriage ribbon
cable plugs into the controller board towards the back on
the right side. The connector is next to and perpendicular
to the RS-232C serial connector. Ensure that the ribbon
cable is connected correctly.
d. Reattach the control panel cables and reinstall the right
end bell and secure with the screw that was previously
removed.
e. Reattach the AC power cable.
f. Load media and test. If the error message still appears,
then the plotter requires service.
