Setup WIN3.1 907/PCI Vector driver with TechJET (55xx) Serial Port:

The Windows CCRF/PS/907/PCI driver file (WIN31DRV.EXE), 
may be downloaded from the CalComp Website (http://www.calcomp.com) 
Self-extract the file by typing at the DOS prompt: WIN31DRV

NOTE******
If you are able to use a parallel port for printing with your TechJET 55XX, 
you are strongly advised to do so.  The data transfer rate is much greater, and 
the setup simpler using a printer port (LPT) rather than a serial (COM) port.


Hardware Connection Requirements:

 	o	PC Host Computer with an operational serial port 
		(i.e. COM1, COM2).
  	o	A straight through 9 pin serial cable (50 ft. max), 
		no wires are crossed, AND a "null modem".
		May require a 9 pin to 25 pin adapter.  

				OR

	o	A "Null Modem" cable, such as HP serial printer cable 
		(available locally)
  	o	CalComp 55xx Plotter must be connected to a PC directly 
		for this configuration.   Network systems, serial buffer boxes, 
		and/or plot spool programs may require different 
		communication parameter settings.

1. Setup TechJET Color
   	o	Power ON the plotter. Load Media. Press MENU button.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to PROTOCOL and set to PCI.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to INPUT RESOLUTION and 
		set to 360 DPI.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to ORIENTATION and set to 
		AUTO.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to PEN SETUP and set to 
		USE SOFTWARE.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to LINE INTERSECT and set to 
		OVERLAY.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to SYNC # EOM, CHKSUM 
		and set to A: 22, 2, 13, ON.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to PORT TYPE and set to 
		RS-232C.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to BAUD rate and set to 9600.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to # of bits-Parity and set to 
		7-Even.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to Handshake and set to Hardware.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to EOP TIMER and set to 2 MIN.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to INPUT BUFFER and set to 100K.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to STITCH FACTOR and set to 0.
   	o	Press DOWN arrow key to Save as user number and save 
		the settings on USER # (1 to 4).
   	o	Press ONLINE button twice. The plotter should display: 
		ONLINE  000:00.


2. Setup Windows Driver:
   	o	Start up windows.
  	o	Double click on Control Panel.
  	o	Double click on Printers.
   	o	Highlight the appropriate CCP TechJet Color
		55xx driver. (If the Windows Vector driver is not 
		installed, install it now by selecting RUN from the 
		File menu bar in Program Manager and selecting
     		the SETUP.EXE file from the disk directory where 
		the Windows driver is located.  Then follow the menu 
		choices, selecting the appropriate TechJET Color
		55xx 907/PCI Vector-mode plotter driver. When done, 
		double click on Control Panel, double click on Printers, 
		and select the driver).
   	o	Choose connect and select the COM port that the 
		plotter is connected to.
   	o	Choose OK.
   	o	Select Fast Printing Direct to Port.
   	o	Choose OK
   	o	Choose Setup.
   	o	Choose paper size loaded in plotter, and set the 
		orientation.
   	o	Choose OK in Setup.
	o	Choose Set as default printer.
   	o	Make sure Use Print Manager is NOT selected
   	o	Close printers.
   	o	Close Control Panel.
   	o	Start Windows Application and print to the 
		CalComp TechJET Color 55xx plotter.
